Jayne Marino, in CDA newsletter interview for USDF Instructor's Certification Program.
"On the weekend of May 8-9, 2010, a group of dressage trainers gathered at the Mount Holyoke Equestrian Center to participate in the third in a series of USDF pre-certification workshops. While not mandatory, pre-certification prepares candidates for USDF testing and is highly recommended by the United States Dressage Federation. ...." (read more -- click on the link below)

Mistover is proud to be included in the book, "Hudson River Valley Farms, The People and The Pride Behind the Produce," by Joanne Michaels, JMB PUBLICATIONS.
"Know your local farmer! This fascinating portrait of 44 farms
from Westchester to Albany unfolds tales of triumph over the
elements and the economy. A colorful collection of maverick
entrepreneurs reveals their life stories, accompanied by striking
images, taking the reader on an amazing journey through the heart of
the Hudson Valley.
Appendices include nearly 100 farmers markets in 8 counties, as well
as driving directions to the farms. A truly green gift!"
You can read about Mistover on Page 58 of the book.

Workshop

At first, I thought the clinic would be way “over my head” as it was an “instructor” workshop. But as I attended the lectures and demonstrations as an auditor, I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t way above my head…I learned a great deal about dressage that I didn’t know and about evaluating a horse. It was both interesting and fun to watch an instructor evaluate and ride a horse they were unfamiliar with, come up with a plan for training, ride the horse in front of the judges and then give an oral presentation of their evaluation.

"I found "A Small Fortune" aka "Penny" thanks to Jayne and Lisa. The day she arrived, I led her around the barn since she didn't understand about crossties. I immediately felt like I had known her my whole life. I may have. She is a ringer (only shorter) for the mare, Fortune, I had as a teenager both in appearance and temperament, hence her name. As with every other horse I have worked with at Mistover, she loves all the love, training and carrots she gets from both staff and other boarders."

“Jack”,
one of Mistover’s newest boarders, went to Wells Valley Farm in the middle
of May for his first “overnight away” schooling show since coming to
Mistover in October 2007. Jen Nagy, Jack’s trainer, showed him fantastically
in two tests, 1st Level, Test #1 and Test #2, where they won 2nd place and
1st place ribbons, respectively. “Jack” is a sweet horse and is known at
Mistover as the horse with the unusual face and quite the loud nicker. He’s
a 16h 2, 12-yo QH/Thoroughbred cross, with a bright white face and chestnut
body. Jen spent the last six months transforming Jack from a “pleasure
horse” to a “fancy dressage horse” (as Maryal Barnett put it in her February
clinic at Mistover).
His proud owner, Kathy Mathew, says
“if it weren’t for Jack’s excellent training program with Jen, and that
“Mistover special touch”, she would have never realized her dream of seeing
her horse participate at this level.
Jen and Jack are headed to Bethlehem,
CT, next month, along with a few of his “friends” from Mistover.
