"It’s hard to think of a more supportive environment than Mistover toJames Cassese and Henk van Bergen challenge and encourage a rider by offering a clinic with a teacher the caliber of Henk van Bergen. Despite the wide range of riding levels, Mr. van Bergen treated each of us with equal measures of respect, kindness and his signature passion. His professional, yet light-hearted approach was mirrored by the friendly audience. This clinic was worth every cent; what I learned in one session in that exceptional facility with that amazing teacher will last a lifetime. When Mr. van Bergen next comes to Mistover, I’ll be sure to sign up early so that I can ride each of my horses with him."

Jayne,

"Thank you for organizing a great show this past Saturday. You struck the perfect balance between serious competition and a warm, friendly gathering. Everyone, from the judges on was supportive and encouraging. It was my first show since 1962 and a perfect reintroduction to companionable competition."

Jayne Marino riding Mount Holyoke College's "Javelin"

at USDF Instructors Workshop July 25-26, 2009.

"I had the pleasure of attending the USDF Instructor’s Workshop at Mt. Holyoke College with Jayne Marino.  I was honored that Jayne asked if she could bring my own horse, Jack, to the workshop for her to ride and to be used as a “switch” horse.  I was very proud of Jack that he was capable of helping!  Jayne was wonderful and Jack did his job.

At first, I thought the clinic would be way “over my head” as it was an “instructor” workshop.  But as I attended the lectures and demonstrations as an auditor, I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t way above my head…I learned a great deal about dressage that I didn’t know and about evaluating a horse.   It was both interesting and fun to watch an instructor evaluate and ride a horse they were unfamiliar with, come up with a plan for training, ride the horse in front of the judges and then give an oral presentation of their evaluation.

The more I watched each instructor/trainer evaluate and ride a horse, the more I learned!  Also, the lectures reinforced what I have already learned from my trainer and the visuals were wonderful!

I highly recommend any “adult amateur rider” to audit one of these workshops.  Not only is it very educational, but its fun to watch!"

"I had the best time!   What a cool woman!

I really enjoyed scribing for Rita. She is such an insightful and generous judge. I loved that she would not let anyone scratch and even if it was a disaster, there was always something positive taken away.

You should ask Bonnie about the first ride for the afternoon. This woman's mare was not behaving and when Rita got done with them the woman was beaming saying that this was the most fun she has ever had at a show.

Thank you again and see you soon!"

Mistover's Indepdence Day Schooling Show

"For any riders longing to take their horses on a vacation from

the dreariness of winter, I highly recommend a few days or weeks taking lessons from the talented trainers at Mistover and/or attending one of their many top notch clinics.

The beautiful location, incredible facilities, heated arena, friendly atmosphere, and top level care warms up the body and soul, both for horse and rider. And the nearby Pawling Bed & Breakfast provides equally deep bedding and nutritious feed for humans."
